Motherhood is a transformative journey filled with challenges and triumphs, and Lisa Druxman, Founder and CEO of Fit4Mom, has dedicated her career to empowering moms through fitness and community. In this exclusive interview with Lisa, conducted by Ileana Berrios, we dive into the inspiration behind Fit4Mom, the mission to provide strength in motherhood, and how the organization has grown into a nationwide movement. Lisa shares her personal experiences as a mom, her vision for the future, and the lasting impact Fit4Mom has on mothers and families across the country.

Ileana: What inspired you to start Fit4Mom, and how has the journey evolved since its inception?

Lisa: You know when you hear about those lightbulb moments? That’s what I had. I was on a stroller walk with my new baby, and I was filled with the following thoughts…

“This is the best hour of my day. All moms should workout with their stroller.”

” I don’t know any mom who is happy with her body. I bet I could help them”

“I have so many questions about motherhood. Where am I going to get the answers?

And then the lightbulb lit.

I could start a stroller fitness workout. I can help moms get back in shape, and they can help me with everything I need to know about being a mom. I even named it on that walk. Stroller Strides.

And that’s what I did. I started a stroller strides workout in my neighborhood. I just had a handful of moms, but it quickly became my village. Apparently I wasn’t the only one looking for a village because the concept took off. I hired local fitness instructors to teach more classes in San Diego. I didn’t have to go back to my old work after all. By the end of the first year, we had 1,000 moms taking Stroller Strides classes. Within just a few months, we started getting calls from around the country; women were looking to join or start Stroller Strides. I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but I knew that I wanted all moms to get the support and strength we got from these classes. And I loved the idea of giving other women the career opportunity that I had in running Stroller Strides. So we decided to franchise the business.

Ileana: Fit4Mom is known for empowering moms through fitness and community. How do you define the core mission of the organization?

Lisa: Our core mission is to provide strength in motherhood. We’re not just about fitness—we’re about creating a community where moms feel supported, connected, and strong in every sense of the word. We aim to help moms find strength for the toughest job in the world: raising humans.

Ileana: How do Fit4Mom’s programs, like Stroller Strides, benefit parents in terms of their physical and mental well-being?

Lisa: Stroller Strides is about more than exercise; it’s a lifeline for many moms. Physically, it provides a full-body workout tailored to postnatal needs. Mentally, it offers connection, reducing feelings of isolation. Many moms tell us they’ve found their village through FIT4MOM, which is as important for mental health as fitness itself.

Ileana: What are some of the ways parents can incorporate Fit4Mom’s services into their busy schedules and still see meaningful results?

Lisa: We design our programs to fit into a mom’s life, not the other way around. Whether it’s a stroller-based workout you can do with your baby or evening Body Well classes after bedtime, there’s always a way to make it work. Consistency is key, and even a couple of classes a week can make a meaningful difference.

Ileana: Fit4Mom offers a variety of programs, from Stroller Strides to Body Boost. How do these programs cater to the different stages of parenting?

Lisa: Our programs are tailored to meet moms where they are in their motherhood journey. Fit4Baby focuses on prenatal moms, Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre are for our postnatal moms,  Body Ignite,  Body Boost, and Body Well are for those seeking a higher-intensity workout and mental reset, and our Strides 360 program is ideal for moms looking to level up their endurance and energy. We strive to provide support at every stage of motherhood.

Ileana: How does being part of a Fit4Mom community help parents build lasting connections and support systems?

Lisa: FIT4MOM is more than fitness; it’s a community where moms form lifelong friendships. Sharing the motherhood experience, from triumphs to challenges, creates a deep bond. These connections often extend beyond workouts to playdates, support groups, and even celebrations of milestones.

Ileana: What role does self-care play in the Fit4Mom philosophy, and how do you encourage moms to prioritize themselves?

Lisa
: Self-care is at the heart of everything we do. We remind moms that taking care of themselves is not selfish—it’s essential. Through our programs, we offer opportunities for moms to focus on their health, build confidence, and recharge, which ultimately helps them show up as their best selves for their families.

Ileana: As a mom yourself, how did your personal experiences shape the programs and services Fit4Mom offers?

Lisa: My own journey as a mom taught me how hard it can be to balance self-care with the demands of motherhood. I designed FIT4MOM’s programs to provide what I wished I had: a space where moms could connect, exercise, and be supported without feeling guilty. My experience guides everything we create, from the class structure to the sense of community we foster.

Ileana: How do you ensure that Fit4Mom’s offerings stay inclusive and accessible for all parents, regardless of their fitness level or background?

Lisa:
Inclusivity is a cornerstone of FIT4MOM. Our instructors are trained to modify exercises for all fitness levels, and we strive to create a welcoming environment for everyone. We’re also committed to keeping our programs accessible by offering options at various price points and partnering with organizations to support underserved communities.

Ileana: What is your vision for the future of Fit4Mom, and how do you hope it will continue to impact mothers and families nationwide?

Lisa: My vision is to see FIT4MOM in every community across the country, making fitness and support accessible to every mom who needs it. I hope we’ll continue to grow as a movement that not only strengthens moms physically but also builds thriving communities that empower mothers and enrich families.

Conclusion

Fit4Mom is more than a fitness program—it’s a movement dedicated to providing strength, support, and connection to mothers everywhere. With an ever-expanding range of programs and a strong emphasis on inclusivity and community, Fit4Mom continues to evolve, ensuring moms feel empowered and valued. As the founder envisions a future where every community has access to this life-changing support, Fit4Mom remains a testament to the power of women uplifting women.
